Description of Orest Kiprensky's painting “Woman's Portrait”

In the 18th century in Russia, a special place was occupied by such a type of painting as a portrait. A portrait is an image of a person recreating a certain personality. External resemblance to a person, as well as his spiritual world - all this can be displayed on the portrait. Despite the fact that the Academy considered this type of art to be the lowest genre, the fame of this genre was predetermined by the current needs of society at that time. The prerequisites for a new type of portrait were the living conditions of Russian society in the 19th century.

Kiprensky was the illegitimate son of Dyakonov and a peasant woman. From the age of six he studied at the Art Academy. He was distinguished by hard work and a desire to study.

During World War II, the artist Kiprensky works on a number of portraits, which today show us all the persons who participate in this historical drama. After 1822, the artist begins work in the style of a ceremonial portrait. This genre is designed to show a person through the environment that surrounds him. The painter tries to convey the whole content of the picture due to the clear reproduction of all the little things and details in his paintings.

In the work of Kiprensky, a special place is occupied by female portraits. They are in his special spiritual, touch with their depth.

The artist managed to create a sublime image of a girl. The artist dreamed of creating a system in painting that would reflect the illusion of life. At different periods Kiprensky is different - from romance in the young period to a mature artist-realist.
